About how we work
The non-profit association Kiviks Museum
All activities surrounding the collections are run by a completely non-profit association through tours, guided walks and lectures. This means that we are dependent on membership fees and entrance fees to finance the entire extensive operation, as we do not receive any fixed grants from either the state, region or municipality. We accept corporate sponsorships and financial gifts from individuals and foundations, as long as these are not conditional and otherwise follow the ethical guidelines for the museum and heritage sector. The Kiviks Museum & Archive Foundation
Kiviks Museum's collections, objects, archives and images are owned byThe Kiviks Museum & Archive Foundation, which should be able to manage and expand the collections for the future in a scientific and safe manner. The foundation is non-profit, which means that all income must go to finance research, documentation and dissemination of knowledge about the Kiviksbygden and management of objects and collections. The foundation accepts financial gifts for research purposes, documentation and dissemination of knowledge about the Kiviksbygden, as long as these gifts are not conditional and otherwise follow the ethical guidelines for the museum and cultural heritage sector. The work at Kiviks Museum
All work at the museum is carried out in close cooperation between the association and the Foundation. The association works on a non-profit basis to spread knowledge about the collections through tours, guided tours and lectures. The foundation's work consists of research, documentation and continued collection of objects and archives. The work is based on the professional and scientific guidelines established by:
The National Antiquities Office
This means that both the Foundation and the association follow international guidelines on ethics around exhibitions, fundraising and documentation work. The Swedish Museums Act and the Archives Act are the foundations for our work and policy. Our archive is organized according to SwedishGeneral Archive Schematsgrounds and we have of course signed the international declaration on archives. Read morehere. In the same way, we follow ICOM's international ethical rules for museums, which you can read more abouthere.
The foundation's board is responsible for ensuring that the work around the collections takes place in accordance with ethical guidelines, archive legislation and international museum practice. The board includes professionally trained historians, archaeologists, museum and archive scientists, researchers and educators. The work is led by our Museum Director, who is also chairman of both the Foundation's board and the non-profit association, for close collaboration.
